Carla Lockhart MP Commends Brownstown Bears FC for Inspiring Super Cup Event

Carla Lockhart MP • August 5, 2025

Upper Bann MP, Carla Lockhart has praised Brownstown Bears FC for hosting a fantastic Super Cup Challenge event focused not only on football but also on the vital issue of men’s mental health.

Brownstown Park, the event brought together local footballers, families, and community groups for a meaningful day of sport, support, and awareness-raising. One of the highlights of the day was celebrating the incredible efforts of Kingston Bryars, a young local inspiration who continues to touch hearts both on and off the pitch. Kingston doesn’t let his physical restrictions hold him back. He lives life to the full and gives so much to the local community.

Speaking after attending the event, Carla Lockhart MP said:

“It was absolutely lovely to be at the Brownstown Bears FC Super Cup Challenge today. Huge congratulations to my wee mate Kingston Bryars for his amazing efforts he truly is an inspiration to so many! His determination, spirit, and positivity are a credit to him and his family.

Events like this don’t just happen without a lot of hard work behind the scenes, and I want to thank everyone who made the day such a success, from coaches to volunteers and supporters.

It was also great to hear from Just A Chat, one of the event’s partner organisations. Their contribution helped shine a light on the importance of men’s mental health, a subject that needs to be talked about more openly. The message that ‘It’s OK not to be OK’ is so important, and the event helped move that conversation forward in a really positive way.

Well done again to everyone involved, a brilliant day for football, for friendship, and for the wellbeing of our community.”
